Introducing the upgraded ESP32-C3 Super Mini Plus (V2) Development Module 4MB, a powerhouse in a compact form. This module features the advanced ESP32-C3FN4 RISC-V MCU, making it ideal for sophisticated IoT applications. The module’s size, just 22.5 × 18 mm, is perfectly designed for space-sensitive projects without compromising functionality.

The Super Mini Plus improves RF performance and overall wireless reliability. Unlike the standard Super Mini, which uses a built-in PCB antenna, the Super Mini Plus is equipped with both a built-in antenna and an external antenna connector (IPEX / U.FL / MHF), allowing the use of external antennas for improved signal strength, range, or installation inside enclosures.

Note: The external antenna connector is activated by default (get your antenna here). If you want to activate the built-in antenna, you need to change configuration of the solder jumpers.

Equipped with 4MB flash memory and 400kB SRAM, it offers ample storage for complex programs and data handling. Its 384kB ROM further enhances system functionality. The module supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth 5 LE, making it suitable for a wide range of connected applications.

The board includes a USB Type-C port for programming, power, and debugging, eliminating the need for external USB-to-serial adapters. Standard Boot and Reset buttons are provided for easy firmware flashing and recovery.

The ESP32-C3 Super Mini Plus includes three onboard LEDs:

• Red LED - Power indicator (always on when powered)
• Blue LED - User programmable, connected to GPIO8
• WS2812 RGB LED - Addressable LED, also connected to GPIO8

Important design note:

• The blue LED and the RGB LED share GPIO8
• Both LEDs cannot be used independently at the same time
• Driving the WS2812 will override standard GPIO LED control on this pin

GPIO and pin usage overview:

Safe / general-purpose GPIOs listed for normal use:

• GPIO0
• GPIO1
• GPIO3
• GPIO10

Pins that should be used with caution due to boot strapping, JTAG, USB, or serial interactions:

• GPIO2 - Strapping pin, must be HIGH during boot
• GPIO4
• GPIO5
• GPIO6
• GPIO7 - JTAG related functions
• GPIO8 - Strapping pin and shared LED control
• GPIO9 - Boot mode configuration
• GPIO20 - UART RX / USB function interaction
• GPIO21 - UART TX / USB function interaction

Peripheral mapping highlights:

• I2C SDA - GPIO8
• I2C SCL - GPIO9
• UART TX - GPIO21
• UART RX - GPIO20
• SPI SCK - GPIO4
• SPI MISO - GPIO5
• SPI MOSI - GPIO6
• SPI SS - GPIO7

Power and logic levels:

• Operating voltage - 3.3V
• Logic level - 3.3V only (not 5V tolerant)
• USB provides onboard regulation

Form factor advantages:

• Ultra-compact 22.5 x 18 mm footprint
• Castellated edge pads for soldering
• Breadboard-friendly spacing
• More exposed GPIOs than typical XIAO-sized modules

Compact, powerful, and antenna-flexible, the ESP32-C3 Super Mini Plus (V2) is an excellent solution for IoT nodes, wireless controllers, sensor hubs, and embedded automation systems where size and RF performance matter.

Don't forget to get an external antenna for maximum range and performance.
