Description

The VL53L0X is a new generation Time Of Flight Sensor (laser-ranging module), providing accurate distance measurement whatever the target reflectance is, unlike conventional technologies. It can measure absolute distances up to 2m, setting a new benchmark in ranging performance levels, opening the door to various new applications.

The VL53L0X integrates a leading-edge SPAD array (Single Photon Avalanche Diodes) and embeds ST’s second generation FlightSenseTM patented technology.

The VL53L0X’s 940nm VCSEL emitter (Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser), is totally invisible to the human eye, coupled with internal physical infrared filters, it enables longer ranging distances, higher immunity to ambient light, and better robustness to cover glass optical crosstalk.

This sensor module can report distances between 30mm and 2m with 1mm resolution.

VL53L0X Time Of Flight Sensor chip is a 2.8V device, with a maximum operating voltage of 3.6V. To allow this sensor to connect to 5V logic level I2C master and power supply, the module has a dual N-Channel MOSFET 2N7002 as level converter, and a 3.3V linear voltage regulator on board.

Power supply: 5V (VCC pin)
I2C Logic Level: 5V
Current Consumption: standby <10µA / ranging 19mA
Module Size: 25 x 12mm
Power-Down Mode: when XSHUT is pulled to GND (high when open)
