VL53L0X Time-Of-Flight Ranging and Gesture Sensor with I2C Interface
The VL53L0X is a new generation Time-of-Flight (ToF) laser-ranging module, providing accurate distance measurement whatever the target reflectances unlike conventional technologies. It can measure absolute distances up to 2m, setting a new benchmark in ranging performance levels, opening the door to various new applications.
The VL53L0X integrates a leading-edge SPAD array (Single Photon Avalanche Diodes) and embeds ST’s second generation FlightSenseTM patented technology.
The VL53L0X’s 940nm VCSEL emitter (Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser), is totally invisible to the human eye, coupled with internal physical infrared filters, it enables longer ranging distances, higher immunity to ambient light, and better robustness to cover glass optical crosstalk.
This sensor module can report distances between 30mm and 2m with 1mm resolution.
VL53L0X sensor chip is a 2.8V device, with a maximum operating voltage of 3.6V. To allow this sensor to connect to 5V logic level I2C master and power supply, the module has a dual N-Channel MOSFET 2N7002 as level converter, and a 3.3V linear voltage regulator on board.
