LED 64-Dot Matrix Module (8×8) with MAX7219.
MAX7219 is an integrated serial input / output common-cathode display driver. It can connect a microcontroller to a 7-segment LED display, a bar graph display, or even 64 independent LEDs. It includes a BCD encoder chip, multi-channel scanning loop segment word driver, and a 8 x 8 bit static RAM for storing display data. Only one external register is used to set the segment current of each LED. A convenient four-wire serial interface connects the display module to a micro processor or controller.
MAX7219 contains a 150uA low-power shutdown mode, analog and digital brightness control.
MAX7219 requires only three IO ports to drive a dot matrix without any flicker!
MAX7219 supports cascading of multiple mmodules.
