These were a pleasant surprise… I was looking for a small converter for a project (needed 9V from a 12V power supply) and hoped these would do the job. They are a little finicky to set (go easy on the little potentiometer) but so have have been capable of supplying a steady 2A for an indefinite period of time with only some warmth. Running them at 3A for a long time would probably warrant a small fan or heat sink.
Until they make something smaller and/or more powerful, I think I’m going to always want to have one or two of these on hand.

I’ve used them in one or two projects… they work great and are an amazing bargain at this price. I’ve got them dropping 17VDC to 5VDC to drive a Raspberry Pi Pico and about 150 WS2812B LEDs (not at full brightness… just a couple amps of current) and it works like a charm. The 5VDC level looks pretty smooth on a scope.
I take one star off because the mounting holes are not on a 0.100″ (2.54mm) grid spacing. This means you have to create some custom headers if you want to use this on a breadboard, and a custom part if you want to put it on your printed circuit board design. It’s not a deal-breaker, but just frustrating that whoever designed the board never thought “Hey… Maybe someone will want to plug this into a breadboard one day!”. On the bright side you can surface mount the part directly to a PCB. I am writing this review because I’m buying more of them, so they must be good! 🙂

Work well on the bench in buck mode even at 5V and 10Watt load from automotive input around 14V (alternator turning). useful.
