3D Secure Explained

Secure Payments with 3D Secure

To protect our customers from credit card fraud and unauthorized payments, our store uses 3D Secure authentication for credit card transactions processed through Stripe.

If you have never seen this before, it can look unfamiliar at first, but it is a standard security feature used by banks worldwide.

What is 3D Secure?

3D Secure is an additional security step that verifies that the person making a payment is the actual owner of the credit card.

Instead of relying only on the card number, expiration date, and security code (CVV), the bank may ask you to confirm the payment with a one-time security code.

This system is used by all major card networks, including:

  • Visa Secure
  • Mastercard Identity Check
  • American Express SafeKey

You may see any of these names during the verification step.

Why we enabled 3D Secure

Unfortunately, online stores regularly receive fraudulent payment attempts using stolen card numbers.

Without verification, criminals can place orders using stolen credit card data.

3D Secure helps prevent this by ensuring that only the legitimate cardholder can complete the payment.

This protects:

  • You, from unauthorized use of your credit card
  • Our store, from fraud and chargebacks
  • All customers, by keeping our store safe and secure

How the process works

When you place an order and enter your credit card details, the payment may require an additional verification step.

If this happens, a secure verification window will appear.

Your bank will then send a one-time security code to the contact information linked to your card account.

This is usually sent to your:

  • mobile phone (SMS), or
  • email address associated with the card, or
  • banking app

You simply enter this code into the verification window to confirm the payment.

Once the code is entered, the transaction continues normally and your order is completed.

Important: You must have access to your phone or email

Because the security code is sent by your bank, you must have access to the phone number or email address associated with your credit card account.

If you cannot receive the code, the bank will not be able to verify the transaction and the payment may fail.

If this happens, please contact your bank to update your contact information.

Is this safe?

Yes. The verification step is handled directly by your bank or card network, not by our store.

We never see the security code, and we do not store your credit card information.

The process happens in a secure Stripe payment window, which is one of the most trusted payment systems used by online businesses worldwide.

Why this helps protect you

Even if someone steals your credit card number, they cannot complete a purchase without also having access to your phone, email, or banking app.

This additional step dramatically reduces online fraud and helps keep your card safe.

Thank you for your understanding

We know this extra step may take a few seconds longer, but it greatly improves security for everyone.

Thank you for helping us keep our store safe for all customers.
